Journalist | Writer | Editor | Touchdown Maker
Nila Do Simon is a writer and editor — work that she loves to do and, after nearly 15 years in the industry, for which her parents still remain dubious if it actually brings honor to the family. She has written for Vogue, Conde Nast Traveler, Marie Claire, The New York Times, Garden and Gun, Philadelphia Style, Miami Magazine, Flamingo Magazine and Gulfshore Life Magazine, among other publications and outlets. In addition, she is the founding editor-in-chief of Venice magazine, as well as custom publications 1926, Botaniko, One Life and Florida Panthers’ CATS.
She has kicked the soccer ball around with USMNT player Jozy Altidore (who complimented her passing skills), discussed sexual frustrations with Billy Porter, sang a verse with Idina Menzel (aka Elsa from “Frozen”) and talked f-stops with photographer Clyde Butcher, all in the name of journalism. Her work has received several industry accolades, including first place honors for feature and headline writing by the Florida Magazine Association.
Additionally, Nila has also been on the crusade to further enhance and promote educational opportunities in indigent communities and beyond. Her philanthropic work includes serving on the board of the Broward Public Library Foundation, Florida Magazine Association and South Florida JAZZ. She has also moderated several high-level panels, including with celebrated architect Roney Mateu, and been asked to contribute her thoughts and insights on forums and panels.
